Interactive Support - NetMeeting

Establishing a NetMeeting

This procedure is used to set up your system in order for BWC to access your data and for communicating details over the Internet. Obviously, this procedure presumes you have Internet access.
  1. Connect to the internet.  Double-click on the Internet Explorer (blue e) icon or from the Task Bar, Go to START à INTERNET, and mouse-click on Connect to …(Your Internet Service Provider). Then press the Connect button, and establish the connection.
  2. If the connection is taking too long to establish, press the CANCEL button and try again.

(Green Flower next to the Clock on the Task Bar)

No ICQ

Once the connection is established, you should double-click on the ICQ Green Flower to verify that we're online.

Go to START à PROGRAMS, and mouse-click on Microsoft NetMeeting. This will start NetMeeting.

If you see an AUDIO TUNING WIZARD dialog box, go through the instructions, then press the FINISH button.

Now, you need to wait until we make the NetMeeting connection with your system, and if successful, the CHAT box will open automatically, and we can start the NetMeeting.

Once the NetMeeting is over, close all applications that you have started for the NetMeeting (Chat, Microsoft NetMeeting).

  1. Once the connection is established, go to START à RUN, and  type WINIPCFG in the Open field, then press OK. This will open the IP Configuration Dialog box with a bunch of numbers, including the IP Address.
  2. Mouse-click on the small button (with a blue question mark) in the upper left corner of IP Configuration, and a drop-down menu will appear. Mouse-click on the COPY command. This will copy all necessary information about your IP address to the clipboard.
  3. Press the OK button on the IP Configuration box, and it will disappear.
  4. Start up your e-mail application.
  5. Press the NEW MESSAGE button, and address the e-mail to support@bwci.com for US clients or quickvet@bigpond.com for Australian clients.
  6. If BWC is in your Address Book, mouse-click on the little Rolodex symbol next to the TO: field. This will bring up the SELECT RECIPIENTS box, and double-click on the BWC entry. BWC will then show up in the To: Box. Press the OK button.
  7. With the e-mail addressed to BWC, now mouse-click in the SUBJECT field and type an appropriate subject heading for the purpose of the NetMeeting.
  8. Mouse-click in the Message area of the new e-mail, and then press the PASTE button (or go to EDIT à PASTE). The contents of the clipboard are now pasted in the message, including the IP address.
  9. Press the SEND button, and the e-mail should be sent immediately. Some e-mail applications require you to press the SEND/RECEIVE or CONNECT button.
  10. Go to START à PROGRAMS, and mouse-click on Microsoft NetMeeting. This will start NetMeeting.
  11. If you see an AUDIO TUNING WIZARD dialog box, go through the instructions, then press the FINISH button.
  12. Now, you need to wait until we make the NetMeeting connection with your system, and if successful, the CHAT box will open automatically, and we can start the NetMeeting.
  13. Once the NetMeeting is over, close all applications that you have started for the NetMeeting (Chat, Microsoft NetMeeting, Internet Mail) and disconnect from your ISP.

Trouble-shooting

If nothing happens for several minutes, keep checking for new e-mail (press the SEND/RECEIVE button) or ICQ messages. If we’re experiencing a problem, we will send an e-mail or ICQ as soon as we receive your first e-mail.
If you get disconnected from your ISP (the RECONNECT button comes up), press the RECONNECT button. Once connected, you will need to send us your new IP address (a new one is assigned each time you connect to your ISP). Redo the procedure starting at Step 2.
