Maneuvering Through the Application
|
Our Animal Hospital Management System utilizes the mouse and the keyboard to make the best use of your
system. When using the AHMS, there are several conventions that apply throughout
the application, maintaining consistency for ease of use.
To begin each session or when finished with the form presently
being used, return to the menu bar to select which area of the AHMS you want to enter. To
access the menu bar (which is always visible), either mouse-click on the heading that best
describes what area you wish to enter (i.e. Hospital) or hold down the <Alt> key and
press the letter thats underlined in the heading. A drop-down menu will appear below
the chosen heading, with selections related to that choice. You can then
mouse-click on the
subheading or hold down the <Alt> key & press the letter thats underlined,
and you will then bring up a window, called a form, that presents the data youre
seeking in a format thats useful.
All forms use a consistent layout, with the data in fields or
tables presented throughout the form, and all buttons are located at the bottom of the
form. These fields and tables are used for viewing, editing, and adding data, and the
buttons at the bottom of the form allow you to perform different operations on the data.
Each button has a label or graphical image showing its function. In
addition, when you place the mouse arrow on the button (do not mouse-click), a concise
description of the buttons function will appear in the message bar. If this is a
function that you want to use, just mouse-click on the button.
From Field to Field
To move to each field in a form, press the TAB key (above the Caps Lock key) or the
ENTER key. Use the mouse to go to a specific field by mouse-clicking on the field. The
field will highlight to indicate where you are.
From Record to Record
To move from one record to the next or previous, press the arrow buttons located on
the form to advance. You can also move from record to record using the PgUp or PgDn keys.
